Triângulo Vermelho Apartment

Breathing new life into modernist heritage: Oitoo has completed the refurbishment of an entire floor of a 1962 apartment building in Lisbon’s Arroios district. Originally designed by the Portuguese modernist Francisco Conceição Silva, the space has undergone decades of change. Our proposal reinterprets its original qualities through a contemporary lens — honouring the past while shaping a renewed domestic landscape.

The intervention stems from the desire to rediscover the essence of the apartment’s era. More than a restoration, it seeks to reconstitute an atmosphere — a sensitive continuity with the building’s modern legacy — where material memory and contemporary interpretation converge to form a new, deliberate character.

Over time, the original layout of two modest one-bedroom units per floor had been heavily altered, leaving little of its initial clarity. The project now proposes a single apartment that makes full and coherent use of the rear terrace and the street-facing garage below.
Reimagined as a hybrid parking and workshop space, this “garage” is intended to engage the street in a more active manner, contributing to a subtle yet meaningful reactivation of the neighbourhood’s ground-floor life.
